Sadly The Station has lost two bar maids.  Rose went the week before last with her boyfriend who is studyingL to R Rose and Lorna for a MSc, in Liverpool we think we heard.  Lorna, on the right, moved to Ipswich this week, my brother in law gets a nose bleed when he goes to Ipswich.  Lorna will still be behind a bar part time but now at The Old Rep.

That field of Scottish Beaver barley being grown for us is almost ready for Field of Scottish Beaver, The Brewer, Victor Scott and Dottyharvest.   Victor reckons it should yield about 18 tons which will be enough to keep ESB going for anywhere between six months and a year depending on circumstances.  Once harvested the barley will be stored in a giant bin for some six weeks to get over its dormancy before going to the maltster.

Lucy in The Station's gardenHopefully you remember Lucy being a very pleasant presence behind The Station bar last year?  And that she went off to be a ski chalet hostess in the French Alps?  Well she was back briefly, looking very brown, and about to fly to Gibraltar to be a stewardess on a yacht sailing to the Caribbean.

Remember that lovely pic of Victor Scott and hisVictor Scott, Pipkin and Dolly dogs in a field of barley being grown specially for ESB? The Scottish Beaver barley has now grown sufficiently that Victor and Tracy couldn't recreate the original pic because the barley is taller than the dogs!

Click for bigger picThe Framlingham Gala (or Gayla as it's pronounced locally) passed The Station and the undoubted stars were the Suffolk Samba School.  Irritated the police though, by not keeping up with others, an interesting view law enforcement has of fun.

East Anglian Daily Times 26th April 2005At the prompting of Clare Sanders the Earl Soham parish priest ESB are brewing a Pentecost Ale.  Traditionally Pentecost Ales are strong and fruity.  ESB are retaining the fruit but going for a more modest 4% beer with a red glow.  To commemorate the restoration of Pentecost in 1603 by Charles II the pump badge spells Earl Soham the old Suffolk way.
